The Villages® Community here in Central Florida is well known for being the largest retirement community in the US. It's also very well known for the number of golf courses that are scattered throughout The Villages 32 square mile hub. While it's possible to golf on their courses even though you may not be a member of The Villages® community, it's nice to have other options nearby. Thankfully with The Villages® Community being smack in the middle of Florida, it's not that far of a trip to destination locations like Orlando or big open towns like Lakeland.
Lakeland is home to several amazing golfing spots for those starting out and seasoned veterans. The Club At Eaglebrook is one of the best-rated golf courses in Lakeland. Golf Advisor's rating system has Eaglebrook at a 4.6 out of 5 stars. It's as easy as logging in to set up your tee times and get your day of golf ready and raring to go. The holes are challenging but not impossible and will help those new to the game get a good feel for the sport.
Another course located in Lakeland is Cleveland Heights Golf Course. This course has 27 holes, a full-service Pro shop, golf instructions, and practice areas to help better your game, and even has a lovely restaurant to unwind in when the day of golfing is done. They also have a full driving range and has annual memberships available to those who are interested.
Orlando is home to one of the better-known golf spots in Florida named the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club. This spot was named in Golf Magazine's "Top Courses You Can Play" as well as receiving the "2016-17 Gold Medal Premier Resort" for the magazine. This spot is excellent for any skill level, as it also offers a golf academy. These private lessons can range from one on one or group lessons, and the best part is that they are taught by Golf Magazine's Top 100 and Golf Digest's Top 50 Golf Instructor Brian Mogg, Director of Instruction.
Besides these few options, there are many beautiful greens for golfers to seek out and enjoy that aren't limited to just The Villages® Community. All courses and spots come with their own set of rules as far as admissions and staying a member go, just as they all have varying landscapes. But each one has their private individual and unique style that will make you want to look into several different memberships!
